Am I required to become a member of the System?

Membership in the Bristol County Retirement System is a statutory requirement for all employees in the listed member units who are permanently employed at least 20 hours per week and who receive at least $5,000 annually in compensation.  Once becoming a member of the Bristol County Retirement System, a member must maintain the status of being permanently employed at least 20 hours per week and receive at least $5,000 in compensation annually. Only elected officials making at least $5,000 annually have the option whether to join the System.
